📋 THEMATIC OVERVIEW
🔶 THE FOG ROLLS IN
Title Update Y8S2.1 went live today following scheduled maintenance, and it brings the Entity’s influence into the Dark Zone for the first time. Between June 30 and July 14, Agents have a full Event Pass, a brand-new Global Event mechanic, and three back-to-back multiplier weeks to work through. On top of that, the team’s made a real round of improvements to the PvE Dark Zone based directly on community feedback since Into the Dark launched. This is one of the busier updates of the season, and there’s a lot worth breaking down properly.
🔶 DEAD BY DAYLIGHT EVENT PASS
Running June 30 through July 14, this Event Pass is built entirely around the Entity’s most recognisable Killers, and progress is earned through regular Season XP as you play.
Key details:
* Free Track:
The Deathslinger Outfit
The Deathslinger’s Hat Backpack Trophy
The Huntress Outfit
The Huntress’ Axe Backpack Trophy
* Premium Track (1000 VC):
The Oni Outfit
The Oni’s Mask Backpack Trophy
The Trapper Outfit
The Trapper’s Machete Backpack Trophy
2 Exotic Caches
* Both tracks progress simultaneously through normal play — no separate grind required
If you’re after the full Killer collection, the Premium Track is the one to grab early, since outfits and trophies unlock progressively as you climb the pass.
🔶 RAGE HARVEST GLOBAL EVENT
This is the new mechanic of the update, running June 30 through July 7, and it changes how enemies behave across the board.
Important information:
* Enemies enter every fight with Overheal — extra protection that restores their missing health and armor when they land a hit on you
* The longer a fight drags on, the tougher and more dangerous enemies with Overheal become
* Damaging that Overheal builds your own Rage, which boosts Weapon Damage, RPM, Weapon Handling, Critical Hit Chance, and Critical Hit Damage
* Guardian Angel activates automatically when your armor breaks, granting brief immunity, clearing status effects, and boosting movement speed — though it needs to recharge before triggering again
* A 10-tier Milestone track rewards Rage Harvest progress with Named Item Caches, an Exotic Cache, and the Rage Harvest Mask — unclaimed rewards mail to your inbox once the event ends
Every Star earned in Rage Harvest also feeds 50 XP into the Dead by Daylight Event Pass, so the two run hand in hand rather than competing for your time.
🔶 MULTIPLIER EVENT ROTATION
Three separate XP boosts roll out back-to-back over the following three weeks, each targeting a different progression system.
* Shepherd XP Boost (June 30 – July 7) — 3x Shepherd XP from answering backup calls
* Dark Zone Surge (July 7 – 14) — 3x DZ XP, keep your XP on death until you hit the level cap, and double DZ Currency
* SHD XP Boost (July 14 – 21) — 3x SHD XP toward your SHD Watch
🔶 DARK ZONE IMPROVEMENTS
A meaningful chunk of this update is dedicated to PvE Dark Zone quality-of-life changes, built directly off feedback since Into the Dark launched.
* Loot dropped in the PvE DZ is now only visible to the player it belongs to
* Toxic gas visual intensity reduced, and the Toxicity audio effect toned down to be less intrusive
* More Toxicity is removed per Surge activation
* Extraction helicopter wait time doubled, from 60 to 120 seconds
* Hunters now destroy deployed skills instead of taking control of them
🔶 STRATEGIC INSIGHT — WHERE TO SPEND YOUR FIRST HOUR
With two events and a multiplier all live at once, the smart move is prioritizing Rage Harvest first since its Stars double-dip into the Event Pass — you’re progressing two reward tracks for the price of one grind. Save the Shepherd XP Boost for whenever you’re already in the open world doing other things, rather than treating it as a separate session.
🔶 WEEKLY REMINDER
⏰ Shepherd XP Boost and Rage Harvest both end July 7 — Dark Zone Surge picks up immediately after, so don’t let Rage Harvest Stars sit unclaimed at the cutoff.
