🔶 THE DIVIDE HUNTER — FIELD ARCHIVE ENTRY

Every Wednesday the SHD Field Archive opens to document one Hunter mask at a time. This week the file covers the Divide — one of the more involved encounters in The Division 2, requiring Agents to complete a multi-step flag collection sequence at night across the Financial District before the Hunter will even spawn. No shortcuts. No guesswork. Just field-ready intel for Agents hunting full completion.

🔶 LOCATION AND PREREQUISITES

The Divide encounter takes place in the Financial District of New York City. The starting point is the Memorial Plaza, located north-east of the Waterfront Control Point.

Before beginning the encounter two Control Points must be captured and held:

 Waterfront Control Point

 Celebration Hotel Control Point

These captures are prerequisites — do not begin the trigger sequence until both are secured.

🔶 TIME REQUIREMENT

This encounter is night-locked. All interactions must occur between 21:00 and 05:30 in-game time. The generator activation, flag collection, and final Hunter summon must all be completed within this window. If the in-game clock rolls past 05:30 before the sequence is complete the encounter resets and must be restarted the following night.

Plan your session accordingly and confirm the in-game time before activating the generator.

🔶 STEP-BY-STEP TRIGGER SEQUENCE

Step 1 — Activate the Generator

Travel to the Memorial Plaza after 21:00. Locate the small generator on the western edge of the circle of flagpoles and activate it. The centre of the plaza will light up — this signals the hunt has begun.

Step 2 — Collect All 4 Flags

Flags can be collected in any order but all four must be retrieved before returning to the plaza. Locations are as follows:

Flag 1 — Celebration Hotel CP

Exit the Control Point and look south. Locate the brick building with a yellow lock on the door — shoot the lock, climb to the roof, and retrieve the flag from the balcony corner.

Flag 2 — Food Bank Safe House

Head south to the flooded construction yard. Find the generator in the area and activate it to drain the water. The flag is in the mud in the corner of the drained area.

Flag 3 — Pier 26

Head to the docks south-east of the Food Bank. The flag is located on the pier next to a boat and crates.

Flag 4 — Waterfront CP

Go to the supply room or the beach directly behind the Control Point. The flag is on the ground near the shipwreck.

Step 3 — Summon the Hunter

Return to the Memorial Plaza with all four flags collected. Interact with each empty flagpole to raise the flags. Once all flags are raised re-activate the generator. The Hunter will spawn in a cloud of smoke in the centre of the plaza.

🔶 COMBAT STRATEGY

The Divide Hunter is a mid-range aggressor with high armor, strong self-sustain, and significant skill disruption capability. Agents should expect EMP interference throughout the fight.

Recommended preparation:

 Lower world difficulty to Normal if struggling — Hunter health scales with world difficulty

 Use the Gunner Specialization for Riot Foam grenades to trap the Hunter on spawn and create an opening window

 High rate-of-fire weapons perform best — LMGs such as the NGV or MG5 are effective for burning through Hunter armor before self-sustain activates

 Focus burst damage in the opening seconds after spawn before the Hunter can reposition

Recommended group size is Solo or Duo. The encounter scales with group size so larger groups do not necessarily make it easier.

🔶 MASK REWARD AND KEY UNLOCK

Completing the encounter rewards the following:

 Divide Mask — drops immediately upon the Hunter’s death

 Off-White Key 3 — one of 8 keys required to open the Hunter-Killer chest at the Haven Settlement, which contains the exclusive Hunter-Killer chest piece

Agents working toward the full Hunter-Killer set should prioritize tracking which Off-White Keys they have already collected. The Haven Settlement chest requires all 8 keys to open.

🔶 AGENT TIP — PREPARATION IS EVERYTHING

The most common failure point for the Divide encounter is the time window. Agents who begin the sequence without confirming the in-game clock risk running out of night before all flags are collected. Before activating the generator confirm it is past 21:00, confirm both Control Points are captured, and have a planned flag collection route ready. Flag order does not matter — but efficiency does when the clock is running.
