🔶 PROTOTYPE GEAR — THE NEW TOP-TIER QUALITY SYSTEM
What It Is
Prototype Gear is a brand new gear quality that sits above High-End, Gear Sets, and Named items in the current endgame hierarchy. Exotics are NOT included in the Prototype system.
How to Obtain It
Upgrade existing gear at the Protolab (Tinkering Station)
The item MUST be Expertise Level 30 AND fully optimized (max stats) before conversion
Prototype gear can also drop directly from the new Escalation Mode
Power Increases Beyond Current Caps
Weapon Damage: 15% → 22.5%
Critical Hit Chance: 6% → 9%
The Critical Warning
Once an item is converted to Prototype status it is locked permanently — no recalibration, no talent changes, no stat adjustments of any kind. Agents must ensure their build is completely dialled in before committing to an upgrade. This is not a system to rush.
🔶 AUGMENTS — PASSIVE BUILD BONUSES ON PROTOTYPE GEAR
How Augments Work
Augments are powerful passive bonuses that are layered on top of your existing build through Prototype gear. Unlike situational talents, Augments are always active. An example passive includes a chance to automatically refill ammo while firing.
Leveling and Stacking
Augments level up to Level 10 through gear use or upgrades at the Protolab
The same Augment stacks across all gear pieces and weapons simultaneously
Up to 7 total stacks are possible across a full loadout
The stacking potential here is significant — agents who build into the same Augment across their entire setup can achieve synergy levels that go well beyond anything currently in the game.
🔶 ESCALATION MODE — THE NEW ENDGAME CHALLENGE LOOP
How It Works
Escalation Mode is a weekly mission system that runs from Tier 0 through Tier 9. Tier 0 starts at Heroic difficulty — this is not an entry-level activity.
Scaling Difficulty and Mutators
As tiers increase, enemies receive massive buffs including increased health, armor, and damage output that can reach up to +200%. Enemies also receive Mutators — special modifiers that change how they behave in combat:
Armor regeneration while actively dealing damage
Full immunity to crowd control effects
“Hot Foot” mechanics that punish agents for staying stationary too long
Risk vs Reward Token System
Agents must spend tokens to enter Escalation Mode
A successful run returns more tokens than spent — profit
A failed run results in token loss — investment gone
This is the primary farm source for Prototype gear drops
🔶 NEW GEAR SETS, EXOTICS & WEAPONS
New Gear Sets
Core Strength Set — buffs weapon damage, armor, and skill efficiency with scaling based on core attribute investment
Royal Works Brand Set — focused on weapon handling, magazine size, and critical hit damage
New Exotics
Investor (Exotic Mask) — draws from all 3 core attributes simultaneously. Bonuses shift based on attribute colour: Red cores grant critical damage, Blue cores grant armor regen, Yellow cores grant skill bonuses
Whiplash (Exotic Pistol) — a reload meta weapon. While holstered it builds power passively. Swapping to it reloads your other weapons and grants +50% weapon damage and +20% rate of fire
Agitator (Exotic AR) — uses a primed mechanic tied to weapon swapping, rewarding agents who actively cycle between weapons in combat
🔶 RAID EXOTIC BLUEPRINTS — A GAME-CHANGING ADDITION
For the first time, raid-exclusive Exotics will be available as craftable blueprints for agents who never completed the raids. The confirmed Exotics included in this change are:
Eagle Bearer
Ravenous
Regulus
Arabus
How to Get the Blueprints
Blueprints drop from Black Tusk elite kill squads encountered during Retaliation events. These blueprints are only available for one season — agents who want them need to prioritise Retaliation events before Season 1 ends.
This is a significant win for the large portion of the community that never secured raid clears and has gone without these Exotics since their original release.
