📋 THEMATIC OVERVIEW
🎭 HUNTER MASK FILES — CRIMSON MASK & IVORY KEY #4 🎭
Every Wednesday, The Division Dispatch opens the SHD Field Archive to document one Hunter mask at a time. This week we are turning our attention to the Crimson Hunter — one of the more straightforward encounters in the Hunter mask collection, but one that catches plenty of agents off guard if they go in unprepared. Located in Downtown East near the District Union Arena stronghold, this Hunter requires agents to activate two devices in sequence before the encounter triggers. Whether you are working toward full mask completion or chasing the eight Ivory Keys needed to unlock the secret weapon crate in the White House Base of Operations, this file has everything you need to get it done.
🔶 LOCATION BREAKDOWN
Region: Downtown East
Landmark: Large open courtyard building situated just south of the District Union Arena stronghold.
Agents should head directly to the courtyard complex — the entire encounter takes place within this building and its surrounding office areas. Familiarise yourself with the layout before triggering anything.
🔶 HOW TO TRIGGER THE CRIMSON HUNTER
The Crimson Hunter does not spawn on approach — agents must activate two devices in the correct sequence to bring him out.
Step-by-Step Trigger Guide:
1. Enter the Atrium — move to the center of the building complex and locate the open courtyard.
2. First Device — Find the mirror flanked by two doorways on the south side of the courtyard. Enter the room and interact with the computer/laptop on the desk.
3. Second Device — Immediately turn around and cross the courtyard to the north side building. Enter the office area and interact with the telephone on the desk.
4. The Crimson Hunter will spawn in a puff of smoke in the center of the courtyard — the fight is on.
⏰ Time Requirement:
Any time — this Hunter can be triggered during the day or at night. No time restriction applies.
👥 Recommended Group Size:
Solo or Group — standard Hunter difficulty with no special scaling noted.
🔶 COMBAT PREPARATION & WARNINGS
Hunters are not standard enemy encounters. Going in without preparation is how agents get wiped. Keep the following in mind before you trigger the spawn:
⚠️ Pre-Fight Checklist:
Clear any named bosses in the courtyard BEFORE activating either device — having additional enemies active during a Hunter fight will make things significantly harder.
Hunters disrupt skills on contact — do not rely on a skill-heavy build to carry this encounter.
Expect high burst damage and aggressive flanking pressure once the Crimson Hunter spawns.
Recommended Prep:
Run a solid DPS or hybrid build with strong survivability — the open courtyard offers limited hard cover.
Clear the entire area thoroughly before touching either device.
Keep your distance after triggering the spawn and find cover quickly before engaging.
🔶 MASK & KEY REWARD
Completing this encounter rewards agents with two items:
🎭 Crimson Mask
A black ballistic mask featuring a distinct red handprint across the front. A clean and recognisable addition to any mask collection.
🗝️ Ivory Key #4
One of eight Ivory Keys required to unlock the secret weapon crate hidden inside the White House Base of Operations. If you are working toward the full key set, this is one you do not want to skip.
🔶 LORE NOTE
The Crimson Hunter operates in the shadow of District Union Arena — one of the most fiercely contested strongholds in the city. The red handprint on the mask is deliberate. It is not decoration. Hunters do not simply eliminate targets. They mark them. Whether that mark is a warning to others or a trophy of the hunt itself remains one of the many unanswered questions surrounding these enemies.
🔶 WEEKLY REMINDER
